Thanksgiving

To our Impact Church Family:

I would like to take this moment to wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving!!

Over the past few weeks we have spent time looking at what our focus and true emphasis should be when giving thanks. The Psalmist reminds us:

“Enter his gates with thanksgiving, and his courts with praise! Give thanks to him; bless his name! For the LORD is good; his steadfast love endures forever, and his faithfulness to all generations.” (Psalm 100:4-5)

May you find thanksgiving today in his courts for everything God has blessed you with!! For the Lord is good and loves you today.

We believe God desires to do great things in the coming year with Kids Cove, our youth, and every other place within the walls of Impact. But today it is about giving thanks…

This year my family and I are so thankful for everyone at Impact and how we have felt so welcome being a part of this church. This year has been incredible and we are so grateful to all of you for blessing us since joining Impact.

Thank you for being a part of our family.

Blessings,

Mark & Beth

Marysville Ministry Site Update

Last night about 25 people gathered to pray from both Impact Christian Church & Hillside Church at the Marysville Ministry Site. It marked the beginning of the next three years in life of this building in Marysville as we lease the building to Hillside and their ministry The Living Room Coffee House.

Reflecting upon this moment took me to where the Bible tells us how we should not despise the day of small beginnings (see Zech 4:10). This is because it may seem insignificant that a small group of people gathered to pray over everything God was going to do in this place.

Yet everything God has entrusted us with can become part of the larger vision of what God wants to do in our community. It just takes the first step of entrusting these moments to Him and then stepping out in faith to where God leads. This is why we gathered to pray last night.

The leadership of Impact made the decision to trust God in this opportunity with Hillside. Ultimately the decision was focused around the building to be used once again for the kingdom. Many things were prayed over during the last six weeks by many different people, and God made it clear this was the direction we were to take.

During the lease we will still be able to utilize the building during the week for certain ministry needs. The benefit will be an updated facility with better spaces for everyone. This is why we felt Hillside was the right fit for us as well.

But I would like to say to Impact, this is an exciting day as well because it is also a small beginning for us. No longer will this building stand in the way of us praying and dreaming toward a permanent location in Lake Stevens. Instead it will provide positive momentum toward us following God's direction ultimately leading to the place He may have for us.

We may not know exactly where this may be right now, but God ultimately does. I believe our next step is to prayerfully go like Abraham toward the place God will ultimately show us.

So let us now be excited about the future of Impact because there is both great needs and incredible opportunities in Lake Stevens. May we embrace God's plan for us as we love, serve, and bring people into a growing relationship with Jesus. May this be our impact...

Youth Leader position

Recently you probably noticed Impact posting a job opportunity for a Youth Leader. I thought all of you should be updated to why leadership felt this position is vital to the direction and growth of Impact.

When I arrived at the beginning of the year, one of the areas of the church I really wanted to see grow is our youth ministry. Presently we have five children who are coming to church each Sunday between 6th and 9th grade, but we do not have any place for them to explore their faith with age appropriate curriculum. Instead they have been helping out and simply being placed with younger kids during the Sunday morning services. This needs to be improved upon if we are going to provide relevant teaching to help them grow and become prepared for the challenges they are going to face in regards to their faith.

Therefore the person we are looking for will provide the necessary leadership for these kids to help make it a fun, exciting place to learn and talk about their faith. It will also become a place where they can invite their friends to talk about what it means to be a Christian. We cannot neglect how important this time of development is in the life of our youth.

This is what is written in the book of Deuteronomy:

“These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.” (Deuteronomy 6:6-7)

I believe this verse elevates how we are to impress Jesus on the hearts of youth, but also how we are to talk about Jesus with them everywhere we go. There needs to be a place where age appropriate discussions can happen and a person to help facilitate this growth in Impact. But I also believe this person will be a partner with parents to help them have these discussions at home.

All this leads to a commitment which we felt a volunteer should not have to burden. It is such a vital component of Impact going forward, we are hoping to find someone who is called to such an important ministry. So we felt it required a commitment that was more in line with having a specific calling toward such a ministry. By posting this position we hope to find a person with the passion to help shape the direction of this ministry.

There are some great benefits as well especially for a person who may be looking for ministry experience. This would be a great place to discern a calling toward ministry and serve youth as well. Making an impact on youth with Jesus brings lifelong rewards…

Please join with us to pray about God bringing the right person into this position. I am hoping this will happen before Fall so we can have something in place sooner than later. If you have any questions about the position, please let me know.

New beginnings

Welcome, and thanks!!

There have been many exciting things taking place this summer at Impact!!

I believe we have been called to love, serve, grow, and ultimately make an impact on the community around us. It starts with the opportunities God gives us, both in our homes and also with the people we have the opportunity to cross paths with each day.

Therefore, I want to say thank you to all of the volunteers to help this happen each day at Impact. From the volunteers who helped make Aquafest a success; to those involved in the Popsicles & Praise for kids; to the people helping bring the Marysville Ministry Site up-to-speed to lease out; all those each Sunday so we can have worship throughout the summer; and people taking time out of their day to make an impact on the lives of other people—thank you!!

Yet this is only the beginning to where I believe God is taking this church as we revisit why we have been called to make an impact.

The goal of the Impact Blog is to begin what hopefully will become a weekly update to things taking place at Impact; but also a place where Scripture will be discussed and encouraging words shared. The reason is simple: sometimes we need that extra “fuel” to get us from Sunday to Sunday. I am hoping this will compliment your walk with the Lord each week in ways that simply inspire.

Thank you for joining Impact on the direction we have been called—toward the community with the good news about Jesus!!
